TDC'S CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY - IANTHE HOPE

Continuing our series celebrating women in drinks and design, we spoke to Ianthe Hope - an incredible illustrator based in Glasgow. Here's what she had to say...

HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE DESIGN INDUSTRY?

Through following what I really enjoy, being creative! I pursued the art world through school, two colleges, and then university - constantly discovering new ways of creating objects, prints and designs.

WHAT GIVES YOU CONFIDENCE?

My confidence comes from constantly talking to people about so many different subjects. I feel like hearing and listening to other people’s experiences - from anything in life - keeps your head ticking. Trying out new things all the time also nourishes an excitement for life. From that, my confidence grows to be able to do things. Not just in the creative industry but in everything.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BIGGEST OBSTACLE THAT FACES WOMEN TODAY?

Sexism from people in power. And the constant expectation that women can’t achieve what a man can achieve.

WHICH FIVE WOMEN WOULD YOU INVITE TO YOUR DINNER PARTY?

My grandmother - the greatest woman I will ever know. My beautiful, amazing friend Diana - the strongest woman I know. Jenni - also my friend - for her endless positivity and love. And my mum and sister, for being incredible!
